Almere enforcement innovates by communicating via 4G

Gemeente Almere test

PrioCom partner Flash Private Mobile Networks is putting our Push-to-Talk solution in the market under the name Flash Smart Com. The enforcement team in the municipality of Almere ran a three month trial of this new solution. Always being able to communicate is essential for good enforcement in the Municipality of Almere. To do so you need to have strong signal coverage throughout the municipality. Coverage has to be optimal, especially in buildings, multi-storey car parks and outlying areas. This was not always the case with the DMR radio system used up till now. This led the local authority try out the PrioCom solution for three months including one of the busiest days of the year: Liberation Day.

About Flash Smart Com

Flash Smart Com  is a mission-critical voice and image communication service from PrioCom, characterized by having priority access to the T-Mobile 4G network. The solution is ideal for organizations that need group communication (Push-to-talk) over a large coverage area.

“We are now confronted with the choice of investing in the expansion of our current system, due to the challenges we face in terms of coverage. In addition, it is important to consider the future, the streaming of images via a bodycam is coming. And we want to be ready for it. Hence the decision to test Smart Com”, tells Jaap Kroese of Enforcement in the municipality of Almere..

‘It is important to consider the future, the streaming of images is coming.’

Complete peace of mind

PrioCom uses the T-Mobile network, which means the municipality of Almere no longer has to worry about coverage.

“What we had hoped to get out of this trial is good reception at all locations. Also in built-up environments, such as multi-storey car parks. And this has worked really well! What we also noticed is that the GPS location is even more accurate. With this smart device we can see more accurately where someone is”, says Kroese.

The ultimate test was during the Liberation Festival in Almere, because what happens to reception when a large group is sending and receiving data at the same time? “During the test on Liberation Day, it turned out that PrioCom is extremely suitable for mission-critical communication. On such a busy day, it is always a worry whether our communication would continue to run smoothly. But even with such a large crowd, we had direct access to the network thanks to the priority through PrioCom. We had optimum coverage and were not pushed out”, tells Kroese.
